GPAC SWIM SCHOOL
LEVEL 3 CLASSIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Goals:
- Further development of freestyle and backstroke as well as the introduction of butterfly.
- Successfully complete NJ State Deep Water Test.
Prerequisites:
In order to be placed or gain advancement into Level 3 swimmers must first demonstrate complete mastery of all skills listed under the Advancement section of Level 2.
Safety Skills Taught:
- What to do when others need help in and around the pool
Water Skills Taught:
- Continue to develop skills mastered at Level 2.
- Learn to demonstrate backstroke arm cycles while remaining afloat.
- Swimming freestyle one length of the pool while demonstrating better breathing techniques.
- Learn how to tread water unassisted.
- Learn streamline position and be able to push off the wall and streamline for 5 meters on back or stomach.
- Backstroke kicking while holding noodle or kickboard.
- Backstroke kicking in streamline position.
Advancement:
- Begin front dive progression.
- Full lap of freestyle without stopping.
- Butterfly kick for 15 meters with kickboard.
- Successful completion of NJ State Deep Water Test.
Swimmers must master ALL exercises in the Advancement category before they can move on to the next Level. Some swimmers may have to stay in this Level for more than one round on lessons in order to accomplish all Advancement tasks and move on to the next Level.
